type='text'>Systematic Fiction: The GOTS and Middling

(See main article: The Gods of the Story)

Take the following situation:

A clock tower contains a bell that is gold-plated and very valuable. However, there is no security at the clock tower. A group of guys decide to steal the bell. With ease, they enter the grounds and the tower, and proceed to the top. As they are removing the extremely heavy bell they hear police sirens.

The events occurring to the guys could be called an experience. The GOTS like this experience and would like to put others directly into that situation to see how they fare. This is middling.

With the supertools, making others have this experience is easy: the GOTS can supermove the robbers to another location (perhaps a safe location), supersee any group of people, possess that group and then supermove them to the clock tower. Here the GOTS appear to them and brief them about the situation and add a condition that the members of the group cannot mention the GOTS to anyone else or how they got into that situation. The GOTS then disappear, leaving the unfortunate group to deal with the predicament.

The GOTS can leave the situation as it is and observe using the supersee tool, or they can "play with their power" and develop the situation in any way they choose. For example, They could possess the police, turn up at the clocktower and make an announcement such as "We won't arrest you on the condition that you carry out (some task) for us". Or they could appear as the owner of the bell (perhaps by possessing someone), climb to the top of the tower and announce "You have passed my test. Now I want to employ you". Or they could possess one of the group and perhaps feign a heart attack or panic attack. Or they could use their supertools to make it seem as though the bell is cursed: maybe anyone who steals the bell suffers an extreme degree of bad luck. The GOTS can use their supertools to create endless possibilities as to the nature of the curse's effects.

With their supertools the GOTS can easily transform the bell tower experience so that it occurs in any place, or with any objects or with any people. For example: hot converted into a verb = heat. Bus would suggest the transporting of people. Gun would suggest either an attack or giving someone a gun.

Examples

Random letters = a and s

One syllable = ask
Two syllable = ascribe, assume, assuage, assail, assay
Three syllable (or more) = assimilate
Asunder interpreted as a verb would suggest the tearing of something (to pieces).

Random letters = b and t

One syllable = bet, bat, boat, beat
Two syllable = batter, battle, better
Three syllable (or more) = beautify
But interpreted as a verb suggests the finding of objections.

Random letters = s and t

One syllable = stop, sit, set, seat, sort, storm
Two syllable = stammer, struggle, stymie
Three syllable = saturate, stupefy
Stealth interpreted as a verb would suggest helping someone to do something secretly, or making something hidden but effective.
